Istanbul - Grand Bazaar

Approximately 5000 stores spread out in a giant labyrinth (200.000 sq.m), of small streets and passages.

The visitor has to find his way out. He might have planned to take a stroll only; but he leaves the bazaar with full bags and an empty wallet - the bazaar is so interesting and the sales people are so skilful. to visit the bazaar is an adventure; you have to keep in mind that you have to be as skilful as the dealers while shopping.

The hand-made merchandise is recommended. because of the low cost of labour the prices of hand-woven Turkish carpets, gold and silver jewellery and leather clothing are moderate. Also, objects of cooper, brass and onyx are offered as souvenirs.

Unfortunately, among the offered goods there is also a lot of junk.
